Breast Cancer Risks in California Nail Salon Workers

Linda Okahara of Asian Health Services and Peggy Reynolds of the Northern California Cancer Center teamed up to investigate the potential connection between workplace exposure to environmental carcinogens and the risk of developing breast cancer. Nail salon workers use many organic solvents on a daily basis. The researchers will determine the level of exposure Vietnamese nail workers undergo and whether the incidence of breast cancer is significantly different than in other sections of the population.
